THE OMEGA POINT (Australia) is a many headed hydra- a majority Merri-bek based, queer led band and art collective conceived by artist Alex Clouston- Part ritual, part musical performance; The Omega Point weaves intense dirge-like harmonies and ethereal soundscapes with influences ranging from Gregorian chant to avant-pop and industrial music.
The Omega Point contemplate how to capture the traces of humanity within an accelerating technological culture.
They engage in embodied, experimental methods of creating musical composition and performance to create avant-garde operas, they contemporise their eco-requiems with the use of vocal processing, electronic elements and a 'kinetic choir' which moves as one body.
The Omega Point and will be embarking on an EU tour in November 2025 with shows in London, Paris, Berlin, Vilnius and Vienna.
They are working towards the release of their debut album 'COMMUNE: A gothic Eco Opera', all music composed in Merri-bek, for which they staged a sold out contemporary opera show in Melbourne, Supported by City of Melbourne Arts Grants.
